“Interdisciplinary Summer School – Explore the Caucasus, at the Crossroads of Empires”

Interdisciplinary Summer School “Explore the Caucasus, at the Crossroads of Empires” has been supported by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia (SRNSFG) [grant number CS-II-23-067] and organized by the Interdisciplinary Research Center at International Black Sea University. The school offered series of lectures for international and local postgraduate and doctoral programs’ students, as well as young professionals and researchers.

The compelling school theme refers to researchers interested in the cultural and political past of the Caucasus, with an emphasis on the history of Georgia. Experienced scholars and scientists from Georgia, Azerbaijan and Europe have delivered series of the lectures within the project, aiming at reconstructing the political, social, and religious life of Caucasian Iberia and Lazica through field lectures and trainings, field visits of the historical sites, ancient settlements and museums, as well as wrap up sessions focused on the modern history and the formation of the Soviet empire.
